this is all i've been waiting for

three weeks have passed since i first stepped onto tekong.
on the day of my enlistment, enlistee were either sorted into ninja and mohawk companies, both notoriously renowned for their "up to standard" training. I was so happy that i got into mohawk. The reason was simple - i heard less horror stories about it, so i presumed it to be second worst complany after ningja. But after three weeks inside, i realised that though the army was terrible, it's still bearable.

I was sick the moment i went in. Had bronchitis. I got excused from training for the first week and I felt so guilty slacking in the shade while my fellow platoon mates were sunbathing. But after one week, i realised I was the one to lose out because the training was progressive and it would be harder for me to cope. I took three days to adapt and one week for my muscles to tone up for the training.

Training became more rigourous for the third week. Every morning, we start the day with the routine exercises which include crunches, pumping, jumping jack, and running. After breakfast, we would do even more of those shit. If we are unlucky and the schedule is tight, there would be combat training or obstacle course training in the afternoon. If we are even more "suay", we would have to do "voluntary" IPPT training in the evening aft dinner. That would be a full day of workouts, hurray, and we would be totally shagged at the end of the day. But i must confess that the training has made my body much healthier and tougher.

The whole company got tekan on friday. After a hectic day of training, compunded by tireness accumulated from the day before, we arrived at the parade square for close combat training (which teaches one how to fight). The sun was burning hot and the tiles were cooked. However most of the people had high morale because we would be booking out the next day. Unfortunately, the day did not go smooothly as much as we hoped it would. Thanks to a sadistic chinese instuctor. For stupid reasons like being slow, not shouting loud (guess he could not find better reasons to tekan us) he made us pump on the tiles. Of course the first reactions when we touched the tiles were to say ouch and lift our hands. Think when the instuctor saw it, he was sooo happy. he said "wads wrong wif u, are u all sissies? stop groaning and moving" and made us change positions from crunches (which burnt our back) to pushups continuously. He tekan like that twice during the training. I was hoping the meteorological station would sound the siren for "hot weather", so that the training would be stopped. It came though, only when the lesson had ended. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Those meteopeople up there were obviously sleeping.

We thought that hell was finally over when we gathered at the basketball court for cooldown. Sadly, it wasn't. One senseless officer asked us to spread ourselves out on the court. But about half the court was occupied by equipments left out there to dry by other companies. So of course, we could not spread ourselves well, and for that reason (I seriously don't think it's our fault at all), we were told to knock it down again. Think everyone cursed. So down we went and i could feel that my skin was being cooked crispy yet again for the third time. Then, all of a sudden, we heard someone shout "recover". I thought i hear god. One of our senior officers had saved us. Guess he had smelt our skin being cooked. The officer who tekan us obviously was not happy. Think we would be getting more from him in the future.

shall tok more bout army next time
